How to Contour Your Face: Bronzer Placement for a Sculpted Look
Bronzer Placement for Contouring
When tasked with writing about sculpting using PureBronze Matte Bronzer, I felt a bit uneasy. Contouring had always been tricky for me, especially with my round, pale face and bronzers that often looked too orange.
Thankfully, Shawn, our Director of Artistry and Education, stepped in to guide me through creating a natural, sculpted look.
The Lesson
How to Contour with Highlighter
Shawn suggests starting with highlighting to identify where contouring is needed. Use a highlighter a few shades lighter than your skin tone or one with a luminous finish for a lifted effect.
After blending the highlighter, apply contour with a brush to areas you want to recede: hairline, hollows of the cheeks, nose, and jawline. Pro tip: Start contouring the jawline behind the ear to avoid harsh lines.
Blend thoroughly to achieve a natural look, keeping areas near the hairline darker and gradually blending towards the center of the face.

How to Contour Your Face with Makeup
Prep your skin with Smooth Affair® Brightening Face Primer. Apply Glow Time Pro™ BB Cream in GT1 to your cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose, blending quickly with the Blending/Contouring Brush.
For a luminous highlight, use Active Light® Under-eye Concealer in 1 on the high points of your face, blending with the Blending/Contouring Brush. Add extra glow with the Glow Time® Highlighter Stick in Solstice.
Apply PureBronze Matte Bronzer in Light under your cheekbones, around your forehead, and under your jawline, blending well.
For a round face, skip blush on the apples of your cheeks. Instead, apply Glow Time® Blush Stick in Balmy from your temple along the top of the cheekbone to the center of your cheek.
Define your eyebrows with PureBrow® Precision Pencil in Dark Brown, apply the shimmery rose gold shade from the Ravishing PurePressed® Eye Shadow Trio to your eyelids, and lengthen your lashes with Longest Lash® Thickening and Lengthening Mascara in Black Ice.
Finish with a swipe of ColorLuxe Hydrating Cream Lipstick in Sorbet for a subtle coral hint.
Looking in the mirror, I was thrilled to see my face looking naturally sculpted and lifted, without any orange tint. Big thanks to Shawn and his Sculpting 101 Contour Guide!
